Thorpe Mandeville, UK / Auburndale, Florida – July 2026 – Skyfly Technologies Ltd. (“Skyfly”), today announced it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Florida Department of Transportation to operate at SunTrax in Auburndale, Florida.
Skyfly is developing a unique and groundbreaking two seat fixed-wing aircraft that is built to conform to the FAA’s new MOSAIC rules for Light-Sport Category aircraft. Called the Axe, it can take off and land either conventionally with a runway rollout, or vertically with no runway required, and then efficiently cruise on its two wings. It’s all electric, so it’s quiet & neighborly, and Axe’s operational costs are very low compared to legacy aircraft. Axe’s tandem-wing carbon-composite airframe, eight fixed-angle electric motors, and simplified flight controls, together will make personal vertical flight more practical, accessible and fun.
The Skyfly-FDOT agreement marks a significant milestone in Skyfly’s U.S. expansion strategy, establishing the company’s first dedicated presence in the United States and reinforcing its commitment to the U.S. as a core market for its advanced air mobility technology.
Skyfly’s plans were publicly showcased on 10 August 2026, when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited the SunTrax facility in Auburndale to highlight the site’s expanding role in advanced air mobility and autonomous vehicle testing. Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue, P.E. also took part in the event, underlining the state’s support for Skyfly’s move into the Florida market.

Under the terms of the LOI, Skyfly intends to commence occupancy of the leased space in the fourth quarter of 2026. SunTrax will also support Skyfly’s growth in Florida, including assistance with local workforce development, state and federal grant guidance, and regulatory introductions, including with the FAA.
The parties intend to finalize a formal lease agreement in the coming months.
